Why Does My Property Need Professional Pressure Washing?

Home ownership in Santa Barbara comes with a long list of things to keep up with and remember to do:   Have the furnace and air conditioning serviced every year.  Test and change the batteries in the carbon monoxide and smoke detectors twice a year.  Check the plumbing for leaks quarterly.  And on and on.

So, adding pressure washing to the list when you already keep your outside areas clean and tidy seems like something you can probably leave out, correct?  And while you think maybe you just can address those cracks and joints in your paving with a standard garden hose, there are a number of reasons why it’s a good idea to consider hiring a professional for this type of work.

1. The right method for the job.  There are key differences between power and pressure washing and because these two are often confused and used interchangeably, it’s probably a good idea to get someone who knows which is which.  Power washing introduces heat to remove grime, mold, mildew from surfaces while pressure washing uses water at a more normal temperature but at a higher pressure to dislodge unwanted substances.  Which is best?  A professional will know which one is safest and most effective for your siding, deck, and hardscapes.

FRONT YARD LANDSCAPING – SANTA BARBARA

A home’s front yard gardens is the first impression it gives to the rest of the world passing by.  Attractive landscaping can improve property values and enhance its residents’ pride of ownership.  However, taking care of even simple front yard landscaping can be laborious for the do-it-yourselfer and may end up detracting from the look of the home.

2. Property value. Letting weeds invade hardscape areas while algae and mold build up on house siding can affect the value of your property, not to mention detract from its aesthetic.  Even if you’re not looking to sell anytime soon, when things like this get out of control it can cause damage that is more costly and difficult to address as time goes on.  Make hardscapes, driveways, and siding a part of your regular landscape servicing to ensure that they’re looked after and cleaned up when it’s needed.

3. Budget.  There’s a lot of prep work involved with pressure and power washing, especially for the do-it-yourselfer.  Perhaps you’ll need to rent equipment and spread tarps to protect nearby plants and HVAC units.  Do you have the safety equipment you’ll need to protect yourself from injury?  And are you prepared for the water bill you’ll see following this weekend project?  Doing it yourself may save an initial service fee, but the professionals are well equipped to use efficient washers and keep water going only where it needs to be, without wasteful overspray onto other areas.  They have the equipment and safety protocols to ensure a service that keep you and your property safe, as well.

Perhaps the time investment alone is enough to deter you from wanting to do the pressure washing around your property, but if you hire a professional, you won’t have to question whether or not to do it at all.
